Every writer, no matter how experienced, needs a second opinion on his or her work. The Word Doctors provide sound, objective, constructive feedback and support for writers, and resources for writers' groups and competition organisers.

Whether you write fiction, non-fiction or poetry, we can help you to achieve your goals. While we are always supportive of writers who are striving to improve,  we won't tell you that your work is better than it really is.

We're not an agency, and we can't guarantee to get you published. We will, however, provide you with a knowledgeable assessment of your work and make practical suggestions for improving it where necessary.

To find out more, browse the menu to the right of this page. Under 'Resources' you will shortly find free fact sheets, and a list of recommended books for writers; an archive of poetry workshops previously published in Writers' Forum magazine appears under 'Poetry Workshops'. Our critique and mentoring services and their prices are listed under 'Services', and competition administrators in need of advice or the services of a judge will also find useful information here.

If there's anything else you need to know, please contact us via the form on the 'Contact' page, and we'll do our best to help.

If you have been asked  by the Children's Literary Agency, the WL Writers Literary Agency or any other agency connected with them to obtain a critique of your work, read this warning before proceeding any further, or contact us for more information.

Free downloads coming soon under the  'Resources' menu: these  will include fact sheets on various common writing problems, information on starting a writers' group and a list of recommended reading for writers.
