I don't think it qualifies as flash fiction, Martin, because it hasn't really got a story, and I think flash fiction must have one, however slender.

It's closer to a very very short poem, in my book. And it does exactly what the title suggests -- leaves the reader thinking.

Perhaps we should have established some flash fiction rules?

I'd suggest between 50 and 500 words, must have some kind of a plot, however vestigial, and if possible a beginning, middle and end.

Does that sound reasonable? Nell

I absolutely agree Nell. I just couldn't resist the urge to post it. I will in future. Apologies, the rules do not really need to be put in stone I knew I was wrong for posting it so don't penalise others for one's misdemeanor, eh.

I don't really think it deserves to stay on the board really unless others think otherwise. So like I say delete at will!

Sorry coudln't resist!

My life or yours?
Does changing open doors?
Beneath this carapace
Can you see what I face?
Or can I see your dreams
From blue misty windows
Where yesterday’s memories stream
Like an unstoppable torrent?

The person you see
Is not what is perceived.
It's a skilful make believe
And remember – it’s not real!

Bobbie

Ok 18 months later, but Bobbie I think my cynical rubbish was well worth it for your addition. Thank you I feel as if I have done something worthwhile just to see your poem.

This sounds so sarcastic but really it is meant from the heart.
